East West Ministries International

God has called an unusual blend of academic and business people, from varied professions and with varied life experience to come together and form East-West Ministries International. For the last 14 years they have shared a love for Jesus Christ and a passion to be agents of His grace in a world that desperately needs the salvation He alone can give.   East-West works hand in hand around the world with indigenous church leaders and other existing ministries to fulfill Christ's command to "make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Mat 28:19-20

Ann & Robert Fuqua, Voronezh

The Fuqua’s joined the staff of East-West in 1998, and in the following years while serving as Orphanage Team leaders took over 40 trips to the former Soviet Union, ministering to thousands of orphans. Late in 2004, they sensed an urgency to "do more". With their two sons grown, they decided to relocate their empty nest.  They prayerfully committed to move to Krasnodar, Russia and begin a two-year language and cultural training program to better equip them to serve the needs of the orphans entering into Russian society.  The vision of a Teen Transition Center arose from their desire to see these young adults not “fall through the cracks” of a cracked social structure and failing economy of the former communist nation.  Sunshine After Rain Ministries has been involved with the Fuqua’s in over 14 campaigns ministering to orphans over the last 9 years.  We support their work through monthly contributions.

Gennadiy Petrov

The continued dedication and commitment of Gennadiy Petrov has influenced thousands of children in the Voronezh region over the past 9 years.  He has organized a team of local volunteers to serve the physical and emotional needs of over 10,000 orphans, as well as being the Russian Director for East-West in Voronezh.  Tragically, in 2005, Gennadiy and his team, were on their way to an orphanage in a remote part of the Voronezh region, when their van lost control on the ice and overturned, injuring all seven people on board.  Each had prolonged hospital stays and continues to need rehab.  Sunshine After Rain Ministries contributed through East-West to help offset the medical costs of the team due to the accident.

Good Shepherd Ministries

In 2006, Jesus our Good Shepherd moved the heart of Anton Morozov to begin a long-term outreach project for orphans and children living in boarding schools. Many of these children are social orphans whose parents have had their parental rights terminated. Anton felt a connection to these children because he is “one of them”, having grown up in a state run institution.  He approached his church pastor to establish a specific outreach to these children.  With coordination of the local body of Christ, and funding from Sunshine After Rain Ministries, they began the work of Good Shepherd Ministries.

There are approximately 700,000 orphans and children whose parents have lost their parental rights in Russia. But no other nation showed such indifference concerning its future and its children. Very often orphans leave their schools and start independent life with their heart full of spite and aversion to the world around them. It is hard for them to adapt to a new social situation being confined to life in mostly rural communities. This is often a reason why such teenage orphans commit crimes as theft, homicide and rape, tragically a great number of girls leaving the orphanage become drug-addicts and prostitutes. This leads to high rate of STDs and unwanted pregnancy. Their children are either aborted or end up being taken to an orphanage, a life cycle that sadly repeats itself too often.

Good Shepherd Ministries believes it is not only possible but necessary to change this situation for the better. Working with the church to reach children through Christmas programs and summer camp outreaches, they strive to be an instrument in the hands of God. Obedience is all He asks, He is able to change hearts and lives. Sunshine After Rain Ministries contributes to the ongoing work to Russian orphans.
